The question on everyone's mind today is: "What does it cost?"
It seems that every time we go to buy something the price has gone up. The cost of living on this old world keeps getting higher. I've got some good news for you! Though everything in this world is going up, the cost of one thing has stayed the same. The cost of a trip to Heaven has never changed!
"What does it cost?"
First, it cost the Heavenly Father His Son. (Titus 1:2; II Corinthians 5:21)
When God formed this world, He knew that His Son would have to pay the ultimate sacrifice for our sin. Yet, He still created us, loved us, and will save us, if we will accept His sacrifice for our sin. God is for us! (Romans 8:31-32) He is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (II Peter 3:9)
Second, it cost Jesus Christ His life. (I Peter 2:21-24; Hebrews 12:2)
He willingly left His throne in Heaven, took on a cloak of flesh, and came to this sinful earth. Jesus was tempted in all points as we are tempted. He lived a sinless life, was falsely accused, tried and falsely condemned to death. Christ was crucified, buried, and three days later rose again. Then He went back to the Father in Heaven and is now waiting for you to accept the price He paid for you.
Finally, it's going to cost YOU! You are going to have to take time to pray and receive Christ into your heart. (Romans 10:9-10; 13) Through prayer, you need to acknowledge that you are a sinner, and that you believe that Christ died for your sin. (Romans 3:23; 6:23) You need to repent, confess your sin of unbelief, and receive Christ into your heart. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
In doing so, you will give up Hell and the Lake of Fire. Now you are ready for your trip to Heaven. The trip is worth it!
What does it cost?
(I Peter 1:18-25)
