Proverbs 29:2

"When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn."

Bro. Terry's thoughts:

At first glance, one might think what a different kind of Scripture to memorize. An individual might say, "When would I ever use this Scripture?"

If only for our own benefit, I think this is a great Scripture. I would hope that all of the world could understand the benefits of having good Godly leadership, not only in the work place, but also in the city, state and national governments. You see, when a leader is a righteous, God fearing, God-led person things improve. We ask our Father three times a day to be with our leaders. We ask that they would seek His ways; but every election year, it seems we get more and more leaders who rebel against God, and His Church. Now look how our Nation has slipped deeper into the mire of sin!

My prayer is that Godly people will strive to take roles of leadership at work and in the community, so that we may be able to rejoice as those nations rejoiced, who had God-fearing men like Joseph, Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. The Bible teaches us when Godly people rule a nation, like our nation when it was young, people respect the authority of God and rejoice in His blessings and benefits.
